Too often people think they're not good enough for God. They think they have to clean up before they can come to church, as if God can't deal with our mess. This can lead to spiritual apathy, eroding our faith, settling for powerlessness. Or it can lead to spiritual acting, pretending, putting the life we want on display instead of what is true. In this message, Pastor Skyler reminds us from 2 Corinthians 5 that a life of apathy or pretending is not what we've been called to. God can take our messiness and turn it into holiness, for His good and His glory. What does it look like to trust God in your mess?
Names are important! Beyond what people call us and what we call them, sometimes there are names we call ourselves. Every time we say a name out loud, we believe it more deeply. In this message, Pastor Skyler shares from the life of Gideon in Judges 6 and 7. Before God gives Gideon a dream, He gives him a new name: Oh Mighty Man of Valor. And He gives Gideon a promise: I will be with you. In this message, you'll be reminded that God always calls us what we're called for.. Somewhere between here and disaster, God will show up. You're invited to share this message with your family and friends.
Bang ups & hang ups happen to us all. Together we are going to learn how to unslump our lives by remembering and forgetting. Jesus tells us to remember the things we tend to forget, not forget the things we should remember.
